Insider Trading IS illegal — and it should be. In fact, Senator Collins wrote the law signed by President Obama that explicitly ensured that Members of Congress and their staff are not exempt from insider trading laws.

Throughout her entire service in the Senate, Senator Collins has never bought, sold, or owned any individual shares of stock.

She believes that Members of Congress and their spouses should not be allowed to buy or sell individual stocks unless the stock portfolio is managed by an outside advisor who makes the decisions independently and without consultation with them.

She also voted for Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, who dissented, and later Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson.

FACT: When Senator Collins evaluates judicial nominations, she weighs their qualifications, experience, and recommendations. One thing she does not consider is the political party of the President making the nomination.

Senator Collins voted for more of President Biden’s judicial nominees than any other Republican Senator–188 judges in total. Throughout her career, she has supported the confirmations of more judges nominated by Democratic Presidents than Republican.

Here are the facts Chuck Schumer and his partisan allies don’t want you to know:

FACT: Senator Collins was not the “deciding vote” for Brett Kavanaugh or any of the other conservative justices:

  • Samuel Alito was confirmed by a margin of 58–42
  • Senator Collins was not in the Senate when Clarence Thomas was confirmed.
  • Neil Gorsuch was confirmed by a margin of 54–45
  • Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed by a margin of 50–48 (with Vice President Mike Pence ready to cast a tie-breaking vote)
  • Senator Collins voted against Amy Coney Barrett

These charges are truly beyond the pale — even for Chuck Schumer and his army of serial liars. Senator Collins has always supported releasing the Epstein files. She backed an amendment during the Appropriations Committee markup of the Department of Justice (DOJ) funding bill to require retention of records and evidence related to Jeffrey Epstein and a comprehensive report about the investigation. The amendment was adopted unanimously, but when Senator Collins tried to bring that measure to the Senate floor, a Democrat Senator who endorsed Troy Jackson objected. The Senate unanimously approved the release of the Epstein files a year ago, which Senator Collins called “an important step for the survivors of these heinous crimes.”

The ad also refers to Steve Schwarzman, the Chairman and CEO of Blackstone, Inc., as Jeffrey Epstein’s business partner – but they weren’t business partners… there is no evidence the two had ever interacted.

Also, Senator Collins voted against President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

She specifically cited her opposition to medicaid cuts as her reason for voting no.

  • Including her vote against the Big Beautiful Bill, Susan Collins has voted against Medicaid cuts over a dozen times in just the last two years.
  • She was recognized as a “Congressional Medicaid Champion” from ANCOR for her opposition to the Big Beautiful Bill and for her work to create the Rural Health Transformation Fund to provide $50 billion to rural hospitals, which Maine DHHS said will fund “strategic investments that strengthen operations and preserve access to care over the long term.”

FACT: Senator Collins voted against final passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill – and was not the “deciding vote” on any related measures.

Senator Collins’ opponents are trying to mislead voters by using her vote on a procedural motion to say she voted for the bill. This alone is misleading, but she also was not the deciding vote, even on that motion. As FactCheck.org noted, without Collins’ vote on the procedural motion, the vote would have been tied 50-50, and Vice President JD Vance was present and prepared to break the tie. Collins ultimately voted against the legislation specifically because of its Medicaid provisions.

From the beginning of the debate on the One Big Beautiful Bill, Senator Collins stated publicly that she would oppose any final bill if its Medicaid cuts hurt Maine – and she did.

FACT: Senator Collins voted against final passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill specifically because of its Medicaid provisions. She said at the time that she could not support the bill because of the harmful impact its Medicaid changes would have on low-income Mainers and rural hospitals.

Fact Check: Collins did not "support" OBBBA's Medicaid Cuts, as Democratic Ad claims
